The Birthday Girl’s Going to Be a Big Sister!
There’s something extra magical about warm & cozy maternity photos in the winter, especially with a family I’ve known since their very beginning.
The last time I saw this sweet crew was when their daughter Riley was just a tiny newborn, curled up and brand new. Fast forward two years, and she’s now a curious, joyful toddler on the brink of her most important role yet: big sister. Watching families grow over time is one of the greatest honors of my job, and this session was such a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do.
We planned this maternity session in my natural light studio to create some warm & cozy memories on a cold winter day. You can never go wrong choosing a studio session with a young toddler. Soft neutrals, warm textures, and gentle window light set the tone, allowing the focus to stay exactly where it belongs: on connection, anticipation, and love.
What made this warm & cozy maternity photoshoot even more special? It was Riley’s second birthday! Two huge milestones wrapped into one day—celebrating their first little girl, while also honoring the new baby they’re about to meet. Riley brought so much personality to the session, from sweet smiles to quiet moments touching her mom’s growing belly. No stiff posing, no pressure—just a family soaking in this season together.
Maternity sessions with toddlers are beautifully unpredictable, and that’s exactly what makes them so meaningful. The giggles, the wandering, the spontaneous hugs—they all tell the story of this chapter as it truly is. This family is right in the middle of a big transition, and these images freeze that fleeting moment in time before everything changes again.
