A Mommy & Me photoshoot is the perfect way to celebrate the special relationship between a mama and her baby boy.
I had the sweetest time photographing little Rhys and his adoring mama in my Natural Light Studio. Rhys had just celebrated his first birthday, and he was officially making his big leap into toddlerhood! After taking his first steps recently, he was eager to show off his new walking skills, and, of course, his adorable personality.
Don’t Forget to Get Mom in the Frame
One of my favorite things about Mommy & Me sessions is that they give moms the opportunity to step out from behind the camera and get in the photographs with their babies.
Mamas spend so much time documenting their children’s lives. They photograph the first smile, the first steps, the birthday celebrations, the funny faces, the everyday adventures, and all of those little moments that seem to disappear far too quickly.
But years from now, your child won’t just want to see photographs of themselves.
They’ll want to see you loving them.
They’ll want to see the way you held them, the way they fit perfectly into your arms, the smiles you shared, and the incredible bond you had when they were little.
That’s why I love photographing these connections. It’s not about creating perfectly posed photographs. It’s about capturing the genuine relationship between a mama and her baby—the cuddles, the giggles, the curious little looks, and all of those fleeting moments that make this season of motherhood so special.
One Year Old and Rhys is on the Move!
Rhys was such a little cutie throughout his session. At one, babies are changing so quickly, and Rhys is right in the middle of that magical stage where those first baby milestones are turning into full-blown toddler adventures.
He had so much fun playing and exploring my studio, and sharing lots of sweet snuggles with his mom. Rhys has the kind of adorable expressions that make you think he must make his parents smile until their cheeks hurt every single day. At one year old, those little glimpses of his personality are becoming more and more pronounced, and I loved capturing every single smile, pout, and smirk!
A Beautiful Way to Remember These Special Moments
These are the photographs that I hope Rhys and his mama will treasure for years to come. Because someday, he’ll be much bigger, those tiny first steps will be a distant memory, and they’ll be able to look back at these images and remember exactly what it felt like to hold their sweet one-year-old boy close.
And most importantly, Rhys will always have photographs showing just how deeply his mama loved him.
