Sweet Newborn Snuggles with Baby Alice

I love being a Schwenksville newborn photographer! Adorable little Alice was 3.5 weeks old when she came into my Natural Light Studio for her newborn photos. Even though she was just a few weeks fresh in this world, she already had so much personality! At this age, babies are often wonderfully alert and bright-eyed when they’re awake, giving us so many opportunities to capture those adorable expressions, curious little looks, and all of the tiny details that make this stage so precious.

And of course, Alice also shared so many sweet snuggles with Mom and Dad! One of my favorite things about a family-centered newborn session is that the focus isn’t just on photographing the baby. It’s about capturing the connection between parents and their new love of their life. Alice fit so perfectly into her parents’ arms, and there were so many beautiful moments of cuddling, gazing, and simply soaking in those precious newborn days together.

Why I Love Doing Newborn Photos at 3–4 Weeks Old

While many families think newborn photography needs to happen within the first couple of weeks after birth, I truly love welcoming babies who are a little bit older. Three to four weeks old can be such a wonderful age for newborn photos, especially for families who want a combination of sleepy newborn moments and more awake, expressive images.

At this age, babies are often starting to spend more time looking around and taking in their surroundings. Their eyes seem to say so much, and those little expressions can give us a glimpse of the personality that is just beginning to emerge.

Adorable Alice

For her session, Alice wore a beautiful white ruffle linen romper from my Client Closet. The soft, timeless texture photographed beautifully in the natural light of the studio and kept the focus right where it belonged: on Alice and all of her adorable little expressions.

As the session went on, Alice began to get sleepy, so we wrapped her up in a cozy textured knit blanket. And that’s when we got to see some of those precious sleepy stretches and the most adorable little yawns! There is just something about a newborn yawn that makes your heart melt.

Alice may have been tiny, but she and her parents are so blessed with a big personality and loads of love! From her bright-eyed expressions to her sleepy yawns and all of the love she received from her parents in between, her newborn session was a beautiful reminder that there isn’t just one “perfect” age for newborn photography. Sometimes, waiting a few extra weeks gives us the opportunity to capture even more of the baby’s emerging personality and the unique connection they share with their family.

The cuddles, the tiny fingers wrapped around Mom’s hand, the way Dad looks down at his daughter, and those quiet moments when everyone simply pauses to take her in—these are the memories that become even more meaningful as the years go by.

Welcome to the world, Alice! It was such an honor being a part of this new chapter in your family’s story!
