Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | Studio Newborn Session | Pottstown, PA

Being a lifestyle newborn photographer is the best job in the world! Sweet little Tripp was 5 weeks old when this new family of four came into my studio for their lifestyle newborn photoshoot. And what a cutie pie he is! I absolutely love this age for newborn photos because there are so many beautiful opportunities for connection and family snuggles.

Mom reached out to me just after Tripp was born, and I’m so glad she did. Having two under two is already a full plate, and then they got walloped with a nasty RSV virus. So when mom contacted me, she was hopeful I’d be able to get them into my studio for newborn photos on short notice. This is a perfect example of how it’s never too late to reach out. I only reserve a certain number of newborn sessions each month to ensure scheduling flexibility around due dates. But depending on when babies arrive, there are often times when I can squeeze in a newborn photoshoot on short notice after a baby has already been born.

Newborn Sibling Photos with a Toddler

Being a lifestyle newborn photographer has given me a lot of experience working with young siblings. I never expect a toddler to follow my instructions and smile for pictures with their new baby. And luckily stiff, posed pictures are not my style anyways. I’m drawn to authentic moments like when big sister Kelce swooped in to check on her baby brother.

Or when she climbed up on the bean bag to snuggle with Tripp and mom…

When she heard Tripp start to cry, she dropped the toy she was playing with and ran over to check on him…

Kelce even went to get Tripp’s pacifier out of the diaper bag to help mommy. Snack in hand, but always devoted to her big sister duties!

Even when Tripp was getting his individual pictures taken, big sister Kelce was right there to take care of him.

Being patient and having my camera ready with a fast shutter speed is the key to capturing young toddlers loving on their new baby. At just 1 year old, miss Kelce is already an amazing big sister.

I can only imagine how much joy it will bring to watch these two grow up together!

Tripp’s Newborn Photos

One of the benefits of being a lifestyle newborn photographer is that the age of the baby is very flexible. Some photographers recommend doing newborn photos right after the baby is born to ensure they’ll sleep through the session so that they can place them in specific poses. But with my natural approach to newborn photography, babies don’t need to sleep through their session to create beautiful memories. So I recommend doing newborn photos any time in the first 6 weeks after the baby is born.

Tripp was 5 weeks old for his newborn photos, and this is a great age when families have their heart set on seeing the baby’s eyes and capturing a variety of expressions.

Crying shots don’t get cut from my galleries, either. That full on crying face is one of the sweetest, truest pictures in my book. And I’ll never deny a family the opportunity to choose a picture like this as one of their favorites simply because the baby is crying!

With all the fun and excitement, Tripp got tired and fell asleep toward the end of the session. It really is exhausting being this adorable! So we also captured him sleeping peacefully like only a newborn can…

Sharing these beautiful memories with this sweet new family of four makes my heart so full! Welcome to the world, Tripp! You are so loved 🙂
