In Home Maternity Photoshoot | Broomall, PA
One of my favorite things about being a lifestyle maternity photographer is bringing a new mom’s vision to life. When this mama-to-be initially reached out to me requesting an October maternity session, I assumed she wanted outdoor photos with the leaves changing color. But when she sent me a Pinterest board for inspiration and the outfit ideas she had in mind for an in home lifestyle maternity photoshoot, I was so excited because I knew our styles were a perfect match!
Mom’s Vision For Her Lifestyle Maternity Photos
Two things immediately stood out to me when mom sent me her inspiration board:
- She wanted her dog to be in as many of their maternity photos as possible. He was her first baby, after all. And our photos only drive home the obvious fact that he’s going to be the best puppy big brother ever!
- She loved black and white images with dramatic side lighting and back lighting to emphasize the highlights and shadows.
Needless to say, we are two peas in a pod and I was super excited for our session day to arrive!
Finding That Perfect Light in Your Home
One of the most essential skills I draw on at every in home lifestyle maternity session is walking around the home and finding the best light for photos. So when I arrived at their home in Broomall for our lifestyle maternity session, I scouted their home to pick out the best spots for us to bring her vision to life. We started off in their sunroom for some cozy snuggles in front of their wicker sofa. Then I hung some sheer curtains over the large window on the other side of the sunroom to give us a beautiful backdrop for some dramatic backlit shots.
Next, we headed into their dining room and tucked in next to a window to give us some dramatic side lighting and a clean, neutral wall in the backdrop. And we finished off our session in the living room snuggled up on an oversized chair next to a big window with a house plant in the background for a splash of color. This stunning mama-to-be could be the star of her own Pinterest board and I love it!
