Your baby’s first year milestone photos are so special because these months are a whirlwind of growth and development, filled with countless firsts and unforgettable moments. As a mom myself, I know how important it is to document all the big and little moments. Because as tough as it is on a mama’s heart, they’re only this little for such a short time! They say the days are long but the years are short. And every parent knows how true this saying really is.

Today, I’m excited to share some sweet moments from little Lawson’s 8 month milestone session. The last time little Lawson came into my natural light studio, he was just a teeny tiny newborn curled up in his parents’ arms. I cannot believe how fast these months have flown by and how much he’s grown in such a short time!

What Is the Best Age for Baby’s First Year Milestone Photos?

Aside from the obvious 1st Birthday Photoshoot, my next favorite age for baby milestone photos is 6 – 9 months old. Babies typically hit the important milestone of being able to sit up on their own around this age, which is why it’s often referred to in the photography world as a “sitter session.” When babies are able to sit up on their own without mom or dad propping them up, you really get to see their developing personality shine. And their smiles are absolutely contagious. It’s the perfect age to capture those toothy grins, silly expressions, and the sheer joy of discovery.

Lawson’s 8 Month Milestone Session

Lawson is a perfect example why this is such a sweet age for baby photos. All of his expressions are just too adorable!

And even though he can’t stand up on his own just yet, pretty soon he’ll be taking his first steps!

But he’s still a baby, so of course we couldn’t miss this chance to capture the little details!

Watching Lawson and his parents light up with smiles was the BEST! I can’t wait to see this little guy again as he continues to grow 🙂
