Capturing Sullivan’s Adorable Expressions

My baby and toddler milestone sessions are all about capturing your little one’s personality just as they are right now. Because every mom knows that time is a thief, and they’ll never be this little again. So before we broke out the cake, we gave Sullivan some time to explore my natural light studio. Capturing sweet smiles is always high on the priority list for my baby and toddler milestone sessions. But when I take time to let little ones simply explore, that’s when the magic usually happens. The candid moments and mischievous little grin that follows are often my favorite photos of the session.

1st Birthday Family Photos

As we were making our plans for Sullivan’s special birthday photos, mom took one look through my Client Closet and immediately knew she wanted him to wear these adorable blue corduroy shorts with suspenders. She also picked out a colorful floral dress for herself that coordinated perfectly with Sullivan’s red hair to tie the whole look together. And just like that, we were all set to create some sweet 1st birthday memories. The way Sullivan’s face lit up with smiles every time he looked at his mommy and daddy is priceless!

Sullivan’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash

Of course we saved the best for last, ending our session with Sullivan’s 1st birthday cake smash photos. To say he made a deliciously adorable mess would be a huge understatement!

It’s so much fun for me to capture babies from different angles as they experience this big milestone for the very first time. And some of my favorite photos from Sullivan’s cake smash photoshoot are the ones I took from above while he was digging into his cake.

Not all babies make a mess for their cake smash photoshoot like Sullivan did. But I think it’s safe to say he LOVED his first taste of cake! Happy 1st birthday, Sullivan! I hope to see you again soon for your next big milestone 🙂
