I’m thrilled and honored to announce that I’ve been awarded the Master Family Photographer Certification by the NAPCP!
NAPCP Master Photographer Certification
The National Association of Portrait and Child Photographers, or NAPCP, is an association whose mission is to promote and support the artistry and integrity of professional portrait and child photographers. As described on the NAPCP website, “Unlike our photography competitions, Master Photographer Certification is not about having images that are “Best in Show”. Family photography certification verifies that you are a master of your craft, that you have consistent work, and that parents and businesses that hire you know what to expect. Master Photographers get the job done and get it done right. We know that’s worth a round of applause!”
Last month, I submitted a portfolio of 25 images that I felt represents me as a family photographer. Each image in my portfolio had to showcase a different family, pose, setting, composition, or lighting scenario. Some images needed to include the whole family, while a few had to be just siblings or just a parent with their child. While each image needed to be unique and have it’s own special overall feel, the portfolio as a whole needed to demonstrate consistency.

My Portfolio
It was a lot of fun for me to take a trip down memory lane and comb through so many of the family sessions I’ve photographed over the years! The most recent image in my portfolio was taken just a few weeks ago in early spring, while the oldest image was taken 5 years ago in the early stages of my business before I even went full time with my photography.
Looking through this portfolio reminds me just how powerful it is to believe in yourself, invest in your dreams, and then go out into the world and make those dreams a reality through hard work and persistence. I’m so proud of the growth that I see in myself and my images over the years.
Credit for this portfolio also goes to my husband for supporting and encouraging me to forge a new career path from scratch. And of course, to the families I’ve been lucky enough to photograph, thank you again and again for continuing to place your trust in me to bear witness to your love!
