8 Week Old Newborn Photoshoot | Studio Newborn Session
”Is my baby too old for newborn photos?” is a question I often get asked when new parents reach out after their baby is born for newborn photos. And the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT! I specialize in natural, lifestyle newborn photography. So the age of the baby is very flexible because the baby doesn’t need to be asleep to place them in poses. All we need is snuggles and lots of love to create beautiful memories that you’ll cherish forever!
Meet Baby Justin, Captured at 8 Weeks Old
To illustrate how beautiful newborn photos are with a slightly older baby, I’m excited to share some adorable photos from my recent newborn session with baby Justin. Justin was 8 weeks old when his family came into my Natural Light Studio for his newborn photos. And he was an absolute dream!
Sweet Smiles & Moments of Connection
One of the things I love most about doing newborn photos with a slightly older baby is the way they interact with their family. Those extra few weeks make a huge difference in how well the baby can see and focus on their parents’ faces. And every time Justin saw his Mommy and Daddy, he lit up with smiles! There’s nothing quite like capturing some of your baby’s earliest smiles on camera so you can treasure them forever.
Adorable Baby Expressions
Slightly older babies also tend to be more alert and expressive when they’re awake. Capturing babies’ sweet expressions is one of the reasons I’m drawn to natural newborn photography. Justin was wide awake and expressive for our entire session, and I loved every minute of it!!
Newborn Detail Photos
Mom told me she had her heart set on capturing some tiny newborn details in our photoshoot. And details shots are still just as beautiful with a slightly older newborn. Those teeny, tiny fingers…
…and eyelashes…
…and toes…
Justin also had the most adorable baby mohawk I’ve ever seen, so of course that demands a special spot in his newborn photo album too!
Beautiful Newborn Movements
I absolutely love backlit shots to capture babies’ movements. And these movements are beautiful with a slightly older baby like Justin. Babies start learning how to control their arms and legs very quickly within the first couple months after birth. Just chilling out, laying on the bean bag and kicking his legs, he’s about as cute as he could possibly ever be. No posing necessary!
Is My Baby Too Old for Newborn Photos?
So if you’re one of those new parents who finds themselves wondering, “Is my baby too old for newborn photos?” I hope sweet little Justin has helped to reassure you that it’s not too late to capture those early memories you’ll treasure with your new little love even if your baby is more than a couple weeks old!
